Peavey has outdone themselves again with their newly redesigned Vypyr series digital modeling amps.
Previously, the Vypyr was a great sounding – do it all – electric guitar amp. Now, it’s a great sounding – do it all – electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass amp. They’ve revamped their electronics so, with a push of a button, you can choose settings for the instruments you want to plug into the amp and have a different set of effects and amp models for each instrument.
We believe you could probably get a nice sound out of these with a keyboard if you wanted as well.
We’ll post specs full specs below for each amp, but we’ll give you some highlights on why the new VIP1, VIP2, and VIP3 outshines their previous award winning Vypyr Series amps.
The smallest and cheapest Vypyr is now the VIP1. The old Vypyr, unfortunately didn’t have a hook-up for the Sanpera series footpedals. They’ve now added that to the VIP, so you can access even more of your amp buy buying the optional Sanpera I or Sanpera II Pedal.
The VIP1 is now 20 watts, where the previous version was 15.
The VIP2 is now 40 watts, where the previous version was 30.
The VIP3 is the largest in the vypyr line. It is 100 watts and features an LCD display which allows you to quickly access preset settings to many styles of music from legendary guitarists and bands. Want a Led Zepplin style sound? ACDC? SRV? Black Sabbath? Insert your favorite band here? – It’s in there. No more having to dial in all your settings to get what you want. However, you can still dial in your own sounds to your liking.
USB ports are now available on all models. So you can hook up your amp to your computer and record directly from your amp. This will also allow you to access more features with Peavey’s software. We presume if there were a firmware upgrade, you’d be able to utilize the USB port for this as well.
